MANILA, Philippines — When you hear “strength and conditioning training,” you might picture gym-goers lifting heavy weights and doing high intensity workout.

But here’s what moms and dads need to know: strength and conditioning training for kids is nothing like that. It is actually one of the best things you can do to keep your kids safe, strong, and active as they grow.

Kids are constantly running, jumping, climbing, and playing. Their bodies are doing so much, and strength and conditioning training helps prepare them for all that movement. It’s not just about building muscles for sports; it’s about giving them the foundation they need to move well and avoid getting hurt.

This is exactly what Kinetix Kids, located at The Podium in Ortigas, focuses on. The facility combines a play-gym, activity center, and specialized training area where kids can play freely, enroll in engaging classes, and even celebrate milestones. At the heart of their offerings is a commitment to strength and conditioning training designed specifically for young bodies and young minds.

According to its brand manager Coach Michael Budol, strength and conditioning training does so much more than build muscle.

“Strength and conditioning training are beneficial for kids because it helps them develop coordination, balance, stamina, and body awareness. It’s also a good tool in teaching discipline and teamwork in a fun environment,” he explained.

The strength and conditioning class that the facility offers is about helping kids become more coordinated, balanced, and confident in their bodies, all while having fun.

Guided

From bodyweight exercises to balance drills and mini obstacle courses, every session is packed with variety and excitement. Guided by sports science-trained coaches, these programs build essential fitness skills while sparking a lasting love for physical activity.

Programs are always based on the child’s age and readiness, as well as the coach’s professional assessment. Generally, kids as young as seve or eight can enroll, but what matters most is their ability to follow instructions and stay focused on proper form.

Before any child starts, they go through a movement assessment, which is simply a way for trained coaches to understand where your child is physically, how they move, and what kind of support they might need.

“Our coaches ensure that the kids are in the right level of physical capability and progress safely,” Coach Michael explained. This means no child is pushed beyond what they’re ready for, and they advance at their own pace.

The facility also maintains a low coach-to-kid ratio to ensure close guidance and personalized support for every child. Each session emphasizes proper warm-ups and early instruction in correct movement patterns. Coaches guide sessions with safety tips and age-appropriate progressions, helping kids grow strong and confident without risk.

The goal is not to create mini athletes, unless that’s what your child wants, the mission is much bigger than that.

“The main goal of our strength and conditioning class is to build the foundations of movement, and to promote continuous physical activity for kids. Our mission goes beyond building strong future athletes, we’re here to help kids develop a lifelong love for exercise and movement,” the coach said.

The 824-square-meter facility offers a comprehensive approach to nurturing young minds and bodies. Beyond strength and conditioning training, the facility provides occupational therapy, early education, speech-language pathology, and physiotherapy classes to support overall child development.
