MANILA, Philippines — Chocolate Lover Inc., the iconic baking store famous for its castle-like building in Quezon City, will be ending its operations next month after selling baking supplies for 36 years.
Owner Annie Carmona-Lim announced the upcoming closure in a video posted on Facebook.
Carmona-Lim confirmed Chocolate Lover’s last day would be on December 27 though it would continue to sell goods until then.
“Hindi namin pababayaan ‘yung mga customers namin na kung kailan nila kailangan ngayong Pasko bibitawin namin, hindi,” Carmona-Lim said, stressing its commitment to other local businesses.
The entrepreneur thanked all her suppliers, former students, and customers for 36 years of service before explaining that the establishment was closing as Carmona-Lim’s children do not want to inherit the business.
Upon closure, Carmona-Lim will be looking after her grandchildren instead, a task currently complicated for her having to travel abroad every once in a while.
Carmona-Lim shared the castle-like structure in Cubao is still for sale and advised the public to stay tuned to Facebook for any possible buyers or opportunities to rent.
“Tatlong taon ko nang iniiyakan ‘to, baby ko kasi ‘to, pero kailangan ko na mag-sabi ng goodbye. Maraming salamat,” Carmona-Lim ended.
Carmona-Lim opened Chocolate Lover in 1989 after recovering from cancer with a capital of P6,000. Three decades later, it has blossomed to a beloved establishment in Metro Manila.
