Tropical Storm Ramil (Fengshen), the Philippines’ 18th tropical cyclone for 2025, is affecting much of Luzon and the Visayas. It made landfall in Gubat, Sorsogon, on Saturday, October 18.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned the public to be on alert for hazards, including floods, landslides, and storm surges.

DOH Bicol ‘ready for Ramil’

The Department of Health said its regional office in Bicol has prepared medicines worth P11.2 million, first-aid kits, breastfeeding kits, and clean water supply, among others, for residents who will be needing aid due to Tropical Storm Ramil (Fengshen).

Tropical Storm Ramil moves over mainland Bicol


Coast Guard sends more personnel to Camarines Sur, Norte

Coast Guard District Bicol, based in Legazpi City, Albay, sent two Deployable Response Groups or DRGs to Camarines Sur and Camarines Norte on Saturday evening, October 18.

Each DRG has 12 members and will provide support to personnel who are already in the two Camarines provinces. They are bringing supplies for search and rescue as well as relief and rehabilitation operations.

Over 11,000 families evacuate in Albay

The Albay Public Safety and Emergency Management Office reports that around 11,725 families, or about 36,500 individuals, evacuated on Saturday afternoon, October 18, in preparation for the impact of Tropical Storm Ramil (Fengshen) in the province. 


At least 6,000 families preemptively evacuated

At least 6,000 families were preemptively evacuated in Eastern Visayas and Bicol, according to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), citing data from the Department of the Interior and Local Government.

OCD Deputy Administrator for Administration Bernardo Rafaelito Alejandro IV also said the Department of Social Welfare and Development has prepositioned food and non-food items in areas in the path of Tropical Storm Ramil (Fengshen).

“Buong puwersa ng ating response agencies ay nakaantabay sa mga kakailanganin para sa paghahanda at pagreresponde sa ating mga kababayan,” Alejandro said in a Facebook video posted on Saturday evening, October 18. (Our response agencies are in full force, monitoring what’s needed in order to prepare for the tropical cyclone and to respond to the needs of our fellow Filipinos.)
