Alexandra “Alex” Eala is set to compete in three consecutive WTA 250 tournaments in Asia starting next week.
A WTA 250 tournament is part of the main WTA Tour, awarding 250 ranking points to the champion.
Following her US Open campaign, Eala participated in three WTA 125 tournaments: the Guadalajara 125, where she claimed the title; the Jingshan Tennis Open, where she reached the semifinals; and the Suzhou WTA 125, where she advanced to the quarterfinals. After Guadalajara, she also competed in a WTA 250 event in Brazil, the SP Open, where she made it to the quarterfinals.
The 20-year old Eala attempted to qualify for the main draw of the Wuhan Open, a WTA 1000 event, but fell short after losing to Japan’s Moyuka Uchijima in the first round of the qualifiers.
Eala, now world No. 54, hopes to bounce back and make a strong run as the WTA season nears its end.
Here are Eala’s upcoming tournaments:
Japan Women’s Open (October 13–19)
Eala is expected to compete in the Japan Women’s Open, alongside multiple Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka, US Open finalist Leylah Fernandez, and Spain’s Cristina Bucsa, who defeated Eala at the US Open.
Guangzhou Open (October 20–26)
Eala will then return to China for the Guangzhou Open, where she may face familiar opponents such as Lucia Bronzetti, whom she played in the Eastbourne Open Round of 32, and Tatjana Maria, a regular competitor since 2023.
Hong Kong Tennis Open (October 27 – November 2)
Eala will then continue her Asian swing at the Hong Kong Tennis Open. The field includes Osaka, Fernandez, Bucsa, former US Open champion Emma Raducanu, Eastbourne Open opponents Varvara Gracheva and Maya Joint, and Clara Tauson, whom Eala defeated at the US Open.
