Colegio de San Juan de Letran was off to a hot start in its redemption tour, escaping De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde-La Salle Green Hills with a narrow 70-69 win in the NCAA Season 101 juniors basketball on Wednesday.

The Squires have now improved to 3-0 in Group B to remain as the only unbeaten team across the league in their bid to regain the crown after a heartbreaking Final Four exit last year that spoiled their three-peat bid.

Nathan Egea led the way with 15 points, two rebounds, and one steal while Andwele Cabañero and Mico Pascual chipped in 11 markers each to preserve their unbeaten run.

Benilde-LSGH, last year’s runner-up, gained a slim 69-68 lead off a split charities from Patrick Pasinos with 2:54 left in the fourth.

But Letran regained the lead following a mid-range jumper from Pascual that sent the former two-time champions to a one-point lead with 2:22 to go.

The Greenies had a chance to make another basket but an inbound pass from Andre Bautista to Pasinos went wide as Letran completed the victory.

Josef Calo-oy and Pasinos paced LSGH with 22 points and 15 markers respectively as they slipped to 2-1 card.
