Mo Konateh led Far Eastern University past Adamson University, 64–58, to notch their first win in the UAAP Season 88 men’s basketball tournament on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Konateh delivered a dominant performance with 18 points, 21 rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and a steal to spearhead the Tamaraws’ breakthrough.
After being tied at 31 at halftime, FEU surged ahead with a strong third quarter to take a 52–45 lead entering the final frame.
Jed Daa’s free throws and a basket by Kirby Mongcopa gave the Tamaraws their biggest lead of the game, and they managed to fend off the Soaring Falcons down the stretch to secure the win.
Aside from Konateh, Mongcopa chipped in 15 points, while Janrey Pasaol added 13.
Monty Montebon was the lone double-digit scorer for Adamson, finishing with 14 points.
With the win, FEU improved to 1-3, while Adamson slipped to 1-3.
