Kenneth Llover battles towering foe in Kyrgyzstan

by Philippine Chronicle

Unbeaten bantamweight prospect Kenneth Llover will stake his undefeated record in his next bout against the towering Luciano Baldor on October 26 in Kyrgyzstan.

Llover, who holds a perfect record of 15-0 with 10 knockouts, is coming off a statement win last August when he stopped former two-division world champion Luis Concepcion in eight rounds in Manila.

Originally, Team Llover had been in talks for a title eliminator against Landile Ngxeke, but the negotiations fell through as Ngxeke reportedly opted to pursue a direct world title shot instead.

With the date already locked in, Llover’s camp secured Baldor as the next available opponent. Standing at 5’11½”, Baldor (21-4, 1KO) presents a significant size and reach challenge for the Filipino.

“We wanted a title eliminator this October. We did all we could to make it happen, but negotiations did not go the way we hoped for,” said Llover’s promoter Gerry Peñalosa.

Llover, meanwhile, seems unbothered as he puts in the work day in and day out, fully aware that he cannot lose a fight on his way to a world title.

“I am not taking this fight lightly. He has the height and reach advantage, so we need to prepare for that in training,” Llover said.

“The team is committed to making sure I am fully prepared for this challenge. I want to be at my best and impress against Baldor. I am coming to win the fight.”

Should he emerge victorious, another bout is being lined up for Llover in the first quarter of 2026 as he continues his push toward a world title opportunity.
