Alex Eala falls to Moyuka Uchijima in Wuhan Open qualifiers

Alexandra “Alex” Eala fell to Japan’s Moyuka Uchijima in the first round of qualifiers at the Wuhan Open on Saturday in China, 4-6, 6-3, 2-6.

This marks Eala’s second consecutive loss, following her defeat to Viktorija Golubic in the quarterfinals of the Suzhou Open WTA 125 on Friday.

After Eala forced a deciding set, Uchijima delivered a dominant third set to advance to the next round of qualifiers.

Barring any changes, Eala is expected to head to Osaka for the Japan Open, which starts on October 13.
