Stockton drops 33 as Converge adds to NorthPort’s woes


Alec Stockton dropped 33 points as Converge defeated NorthPort, 111-92, on Friday in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.

Stockton’s season-high outing was built on five out of nine triples to go with three rebounds, three assists, and two steals as the FiberXers improved to 5-3 and bounced back after falling to Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.

Converge pulled away in the second half after it made 34 points to take an 82-64 lead by the end of the third period. The FiberXers had its biggest lead, 107-84, at the 4:07 mark of the final frame after Justin Arana’s split before cruising onto the victory.

Schonny Winston almost registered a double-double performance with 22 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and a steal. Arana, meanwhile, logged 18 points, 14 boards, and three assists, as Justine Baltazar stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, 11 rebounds, and two blocks.

Joshua Munzon and Will Navarro had 23 and 20 points, respectively, as the Batang Pier absorbed its fifth straight loss after opening the conference with a win. Arvin Tolentino still did not play for NorthPort.
