Sara Duterte Stays Silent on Senate Summons Amid Impeachment Case

Vice President Sara Duterte has remained quiet after receiving a Senate summons related to the impeachment complaint filed against her by the House of Representatives. When asked for a comment, her office said it would be up to her legal team to respond to the summons.

The law firm handling her case is Fortun, Narvasa and Salazar. Meanwhile, Duterte is currently on a personal trip with her family in Kuala Lumpur, where she joined the Philippine Independence Day celebrations alongside allies like Senators Imee Marcos and Robinhood Padilla.

There was no word on when she plans to return to the Philippines, but she is scheduled to attend an event in Davao City on June 16, where she will lead an awards ceremony honoring partners who help with the Office of the Vice President’s programs.

During the Independence Day event in Kuala Lumpur, Duterte expressed concerns about the recent midterm elections, saying that many PDP-Laban senatorial candidates were cheated. She mentioned consulting IT experts who told her the election results seemed impossible, urging her party to question the vote-counting process.

Meanwhile, Honeylet Avanceña, former president Rodrigo Duterte’s partner, said she informed him about the impeachment developments involving Sara Duterte, but he chose not to comment.

As the situation unfolds, many are watching closely to see how the Vice President and her legal team will respond to the Senate’s call.
