San Miguel dominates Terrafirma for back-to-back wins


San Miguel Beer claimed back-to-back wins after dominating Terrafirma, 128-89, on Sunday in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Ynares Center in Montalban.

The victory came after San Miguel defeated Phoenix last May 11.

Already holding a double-digit lead by halftime at 51-37, the Beermen continued to stall the Dyip as they exploded for 42 points, 12 points coming from CJ Perez, against Terrafirma’s 27 points. San Miguel eventually went cruise control en route to the 39-point victory.

Perez and Mo Tautuaa had 17 points apiece, while Rodney Brondial dominated the boards with 22 rebounds to go with 16 points, an assist, and a block as San Miguel improved to 5-2.

A total of seven players scored in double-digits for the Beermen as they flexed their depth, with Juami Tiongson having 13, while Don Trollano and Jericho Cruz chipped in 12 and 11 points, respectively. June Mar Fajardo, meanwhile, stuffed the stat sheet with 12 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, and one block.

The win spoiled Mark Nonoy’s 24-point drive for the Dyip, while Stanley Pringle added 17 points. Louie Sangalang registered a double-double with 14 rebounds, 10 points, and six assists as Terrafirma moved to 1-7.
