MANILA, Philippines — Simply hours after taking his oath, new Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon ordered the courtesy resignations of all rating officers, all the way down to the district degree.
“Ang una-unang order ko na ilalabas ay ang pag-order ng courtesy resignations, high to backside. [Undersecretary, assistant secretary], division head, regional director, hanggang district engineer ng buong bansa,” Dizon stated at a Malacañang press convention on Monday, September 1. Dizon described the transfer as a “sweep” aligned with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to scrub up the company.
Dizon acknowledged that there are nonetheless “good individuals” within the DPWH, and stated he would establish and place them in the suitable positions. However he confused that widespread corruption in flood management initiatives couldn’t have thrived with out insiders.
