Pedro Taduran beats Shigeoka anew, keeps IBF world title

Pedro Taduran successfully defended his IBF world minimumweight title following a hard-fought split decision nod in his rematch with Ginjiro Shigeoka this Saturday at Intex Osaka in Japan.

Just like Team Taduran anticipated before the fight, Shigeoka boxed and moved all night as he looked to time and counter the Filipino with punches to the head and body.

Taduran did not let his foot off the gas pedal all night. In true Taduran fashion, the defending Filipino world champion chased the Japanese all night, throwing combinations with bad intentions.

It was a back-and-forth action throughout the course of twelve rounds, with both fighters having moments of their own.

After 36 minutes of battle, two of the three judges saw the fight for Taduran, improving his record to 18-4-1 with 13 knockouts. The scorecards were 118-110, 115-113, and 113-115.
