MANILA, Philippines — State-run Philippine Deposit Insurance Corp. has rolled out its artificial intelligence (AI)-powered chatbot, marking a key milestone in the state-run insurer’s digital transformation efforts aimed at enhancing public service.
Unveiled during a ceremony on Oct. 14, the PDIC Online Assistant (POLA) is now accessible through the PDIC website and is designed to provide real-time, reliable and user-friendly information to clients and stakeholders.
The chatbot’s reach is expected to expand soon, with plans to integrate it into PDIC’s official Facebook page.
Leading the launch were PDIC president and CEO Roberto Tan, Civil Service Commission assistant commissioner for professionalization and cooperation Judith Dongallo-Chicano and CSC NCR field office director Cesar Garduque Jr.
Chicano hailed the chatbot as a “beacon of innovation in public service,” highlighting how digital tools can help strengthen the government’s accountability to the public.
“Puso sa serbisyo is that genuine desire to give efficient and effective service, that willingness to go the extra mile. This is demonstrated in all the mechanisms you have in place to provide a safety net for depositors,” Chicano said in her keynote message.
Tan said the launch of POLA underscores the PDIC’s commitment to harnessing technology to serve a growing base of digitally engaged depositors and bank clients.
“POLA is designed to enhance our ability to respond quickly, accurately, and efficiently to public inquiries – especially as we see a growing number of tech-savvy depositors, closed bank clients and other stakeholders engaging with us online,” he said.
that while the corporation continues to modernize its systems, traditional service channels remain intact. The PDIC Public Assistance Center will continue catering to walk-in clients, ensuring inclusivity in service delivery.
“Regardless of the channel – online or face-to-face – our commitment remains the same: timely, accurate, and personalized service for every Filipino we serve,” Tan added.
