The Philippine Basketball Association on Friday said it handed out a one-game suspension and a fine of P100,000 on Meralco’s Cliff Hodge, while Magnolia assistant coach Mon Jose was also fined P20,000 after the late-game incident during the two teams’ match last Wednesday.
During the said match, Hodge took down Zav Lucero and the Meralco star was called for a flagrant foul during the 2:16 mark of the fourth period. In an update on the league’s website, Hodge said he had no intentions of hurting Lucero.
Jose, meanwhile, got the fine for headbutting Hodge in the said game.
League commissioner Willie Marcial advised the two to control their emotions as a repetition of the act will be dealt with severely.
Meralco won the said match, 117-92.
