Mpox Still a Health Emergency, Says WHO

The World Health Organization (WHO) announced that the mpox outbreak remains a public health emergency. This is the highest level of alert the WHO can give. The organization first declared the emergency last August when a new type of mpox spread from the Democratic Republic of Congo to nearby countries.

The WHO’s director-general has also updated temporary guidelines to help manage the outbreak. The situation continues to be serious and requires global attention.
