MANILA, Philippines — Though she officially finished as the runner-up at Miss Cosmo 2025, the Philippines’ Chelsea Fernandez can expect an equal amount of duties as winner Yolina Lindquist of the United States.
This after the chief executive officer of the Vietnam-based pageant Tr?n Vi?t B?o Hoàng said Yolina and Chelsea would make “a perfect duo for the whole reign.”
Tr?n Vi?t B?o Hoàng mentioned such during the press conference on December 21 a day after Yolina’s coronation, as captured by pageant content creator Pao Caniamo.
“The reason we chose only one winner and runner-up is because they can support each other to become the perfect duo for the whole reign,” said the executive after being asked what responsibilities Chelsea would have as the runner-up.
He pointed out that the winner and runner-up’s duties are almost the same, adding that Yolina and Chelsea were evenly matched during the pageant’s debate
B?o Hoàng then reflected on the reign of Miss Cosmo’s inaugural winnner Ketut Permata Juliastrid and how her runner-up Karnruethai Tassabut accomplished her tasks well of hosting the 2025 pageant, speaking at campuses, and supporting her winner.
“During the reign they were busy with their job, travelling to different countries to fulfill tasks,” he continued. “When we see the winner in a country, we can see the runner-up giving a speech and doing commercial jobs, and they switch their role very smoothly.”
In the spirit of fairness, B?o Hoàng said going forward Miss Cosmo would keep having two winners.
“The moment they are holding hands… no matter what happens, they become a part of the Miss Cosmo family,” he ended, joking that that Yolina and Chelsea had KPIs (key performance indicators) to reach.
