Some lawmakers in both the House and the Senate have begun publicizing their Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) as the flood control scandal that has gripped the Philippines shines a spotlight on legislators’ wealth and ties to contractors.
While Ombudsman Boying Remulla has eased guidelines on SALN access, the policy does not cover the House and the Senate, which have a different SALN custodian.
As it stands, lawmakers have the discretion whether or not to release their SALNs.
