Dwight Ramos prepares ahead of ‘tough’ Gilas campaign in FIBA Asia Cup, World Cup qualifiers

Dwight Ramos is getting ready ahead of a “tough” campaign for Gilas Pilipinas in the FIBA Asia Cup and FIBA World Cup Qualifiers.

The national team is grouped with Chinese Taipei, New Zealand, and Iraq in the regional tourney which will be held in August, while the Philippines will face Australia, Guam, and New Zealand again in the World Cup Qualifiers which will start in November.

“The Asian Cup is going to be tough, for sure. We don’t have Kai [Sotto], but we’re going to figure it out and see who’s available who can play. Our job as the players is to show up and do our best,” Ramos said on the sidelines of the Japan B.League Finals viewing party on Saturday.

“That’s all I’m gonna do. I’m gonna train, get ready for it and put my best foot forward for the Asian Cup.”

Ramos added that beyond winning, the national team hopes to advance to the World Cup for the fourth straight edition.

“The goal is just to qualify, it’s not to win every single game. Obviously we want to, but at the end of the day, you just want to qualify,” he added.

Ramos said he will fly to the United States first before returning to the Philippines for the national team’s training camp.
