MANILA, Philippines — Marvel Studios officially confirmed the return of Chris Evans as Steve Rogers to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the upcoming blockbuster “Avengers: Doomsday.”

Amid rumors about Evans’ inclusion — or rather reintroduction — Marvel dropped its first teaser for “Doomsday” which mainly revolved around Evans’ Rogers.

The teaser trailer sees Rogers riding his motorcycle back home, with a slowed-down piano version of the “Avengers” theme playing in the background.

Inside the house Rogers tucks away one of his Captain America outfits to focus on something more valuable, an newborn infant.

The camera slowly shifts to show it is indeed Evans as Rogers, followed by text confirming “Steve Rogers Will Return In ‘Avengers: Doomsday'” and a countdown to the movie’s release a year from now.

Evans last portrayed Rogers in 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame” when he passed the Captain America mantle to Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson, who most recently donned the stars and stripes in “Captain America: Brave New World” earlier this year.

At the time, “Avengers: Endgame” finished Rogers’ story with the revelation he went back in time to live a life with Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter.

The actor did have a brief cameo in “Free Guy” reacting to Ryan Reynolds’ character using Captain America’s shield, then last year reprised his role as Fantastic Four member Johnny Storm (the Human Torch) in another Marvel Studios movie “Deadpool and Wolverine.”

“Avengers: Doomsday” will also see the return of Robert Downey Jr., not as Tony Stark or Iron Man but as new villain Dr. Doom — Marvel’s latest gamble in the ever-expanding franchise.

Dr. Doom was teased in this year’s “Fantastic Four: First Steps” with a vacant seat for his home country Latveria plus a brief post-credits scene showing his famous green cloak and metal mask.

Russo brothers Anthony and Joe also return to helm the film releasing in mid-December 2026. — Video from Marvel Entertainment’s YouTube channel
