MANILA, Philippines — Businessman-politician Luis “Chavit” Singson considers buying the Miss Universe Organization a gift for pageant-loving Filipinos.
In an interview with the media earlier today, Singson said that he believes JKN Global Group and Legacy Holding Group USA Inc. will sell the pageant to him. MUO is currently co-owned by Mexican businessman Raul Rocha and Thai businesswoman Anne Jakrajutatip.
“Sa nababasa ko lang, nagkaroon ng problema sa Thailand, sa Mexico so kung ipagpapatuloy nila, lalo silang malulugi,” he said.
“So palagay ko they are willing to sell although wala pang negotiation,” he added.
Although there are no negotiations yet since the other party are expected to visit the country next month, Singson said that he is doing it for the country and will not even mind if he will lose money.
“Wala naman dahil nga willing naman akong malugi diyan e. Kasi maganda sa ating bansa. Habang may pera ako, gusto kong bilhin,” he said.
“Kasi ang gusto lang ng Pilipino, beauty contest, basketball at boxing,” he added.
He also said that his daughter Richelle Singson-Michael will manage MUO. Richelle was the chairperson of the Miss Universe Host Committee that organized Miss Universe 2016 held in the Philippines.
“Ang magma-manage ‘yung daughter ko because she was the one who managed the whole Miss Universe 2016. Sa Thailand, siya rin pinadala ko don,” he said.
