Bacolod’s Mico Villaran shatters 15-year Palarong Pambansa record in secondary boys’ 110m hurdles

ILOCOS NORTE — Mico Villaran rewrote history as the young athlete broke a 15-year meet record in the secondary boys’ 110-meter hurdles to rule in the 2025 Palarong Pambansa on Monday at the Ferdinand E. Marcos Memorial Stadium in Ilocos Norte.

The 17-year-old trackster from Romanito Maravilla National High School in Bacolod clocked in 14.00 seconds to win the gold, eclipsing the previous 14.68-second mark set by Patrick Unso way back 2010 in Tarlac.

The Western Visayas bet now became the first athlete in the ongoing Palaro to break a record as he reigned supreme in the eight-man field.

Meanwhile, Mark John Paculanang of Central Visayas claimed the silver after posting 14.32 seconds while Charles James Villapaña bagged the bronze medal after registering 14.75 seconds.
