Alex Eala falls short vs Colombia’s Arango in French Open main draw debut

Filipina tennis ace Alex Eala fell short against Colombia’s Emiliana Arango, 6-0, 2-6, 6-3, in the first round of the 2025 French Open women’s singles tournament on Sunday.

Eala bounced back in the second set as she led 3-2 before the match was suspended due to rain. Eventually, she claimed the said set but the Colombian managed to recover in the deciding frame.

The 20-year old Filipina, who is now ranked no. 73 in the world rankings, will still compete in the doubles tournament with Mexico’s Renata Zarazua starting Wednesday.

This marked Eala’s debut in the main draw of the French Open.
