Philippine Officials Evacuated to Jordan Amid Escalating Israel-Iran Conflict
Twenty-one government officials from the Philippines who were in Israel for a study tour have been safely evacuated to Jordan as tensions between Israel and Iran continue to rise. The officials crossed the King Hussein Border into Jordan on June 18, following intensified missile exchanges in the region.
The Philippine Embassy in Jordan played a key role in coordinating the evacuation, working closely with Jordanian authorities to secure entry clearance. The ambassador personally welcomed the group at the border, and the officials received transit visas free of charge.
This successful operation was the result of strong collaboration between Philippine embassies in both Israel and Jordan. The officials had originally traveled to Israel for training and work visits as guests of the Israeli government, with plans to depart on June 20. However, their return was disrupted when Israel closed its airspace due to the ongoing conflict.
The embassy in Jordan is also preparing to assist the first group of overseas Filipino workers who are expected to leave Israel and enter Jordan in the coming days. Support will be provided to these workers throughout their repatriation journey.
Amid the conflict, reports indicate that several Filipinos in Israel have been injured, with at least one in critical condition. The situation remains tense, and efforts to ensure the safety of Filipino nationals in the region are ongoing.
